Flower Farming Workshops

Want to know what flower farming is all about? These classes will cover site planning, reliable flower choices, germination and planting techniques as well as irrigation, fertilization and pest management.

We offer a Spring, Summer and Fall module for this course. Each module highlights the specific techniques and flowers of that season. The spring module focuses on seed starting, early season flowers and setting your farm up for success. The summer module focuses on deadheading, pruning and fertilization as well as starting later season flowers. The Fall module focuses on overwintering flowers, storage of lifted tubers and bulbs and planning for the following season.

These classes are held at Idlewild Flower Farm from 8:30-2:30 on the dates shown below. Pre-registration is required. Lunch is provided! Cost: $325.

– Spring Flower Farming Workshop: Saturday, May 15 or Sunday, May 16th.
– Summer Flower Farming Workshop: Saturday, June 26 or Sunday, June 27th
– Fall Flower Farming Workshop: Saturday, October 9 or Sunday, October 10th.

Flower Crown Class

Let’s adorn ourselves in flowers! Learn how to make flower crowns and headbands – from field to head.

These classes are held at Idlewild Flower Farm from 6pm-8pm on the dates shown below. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $75.

Happy Flowers Class

Join us on Friday nights this summer for wine and flowers! Walk our fields and cut flowers to make your own arrangement. We will show you how to harvest and process your flowers and simple techniques for beautiful hand tied bouquets! Wine and light refreshments will be offered.
